Last chance to register for Advanced ELENA Course: Dublin, 6-8 December 2013

ECRE is currently working on redeveloping the website. Visitors can still access the database and search for asylum-related judgments up until 2021.

Date:
Monday, November 4, 2013

The deadline for registrations for the Advanced Elena Course on 'Refugee Protection and the Dublin system: Can they ever be compatible?' has been extended until Thursday 7 November. Interested participants should register as soon as possible to avail of the last few remaining places.

The course, which will take place in Dublin on 6-8 December, will examine the operation of the Dublin II Regulation and its recast. With a strong practical focus, there will be an analysis of the Dublin III Regulation and its compatibility with the EU Fundamental Rights system. In the second half of the course, experts and practitioners will discuss leading jurisprudence from national and European courts concerning the Dublin Regulation and there will also be a panel discussion on the risks and opportunities for asylum seekers under the new Dublin system. The course will conclude with a number of case studies, which will be facilitated in smaller groups, on various aspects of the Dublin Regulation.

Speakers and facilitators include Francesco Maiani (Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration), Nuala Mole (AIRE Centre) and the Honourable Mr. Justice Bernard McCloskey (President, UK Upper Tribunal, Asylum and Immigration Chamber), and Maria Hennessy (Senior Legal Officer, ECRE).
